Terms of Use & Sale

Last updated: February 5, 2026

Welcome to Montana HiFi, operated by Silverface Holdings, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using montanahifi.com (the “Site”) or purchasing any item listed on the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use & Sale. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. The Nature of Our Business

Montana HiFi is a curated marketplace for vintage, used, and refurbished audio equipment. We connect buyers with vetted sellers across the state of Montana. Items listed on the Site may be decades old and are sold in their described condition. We are not a manufacturer, authorized dealer, or warranty provider for any brand listed on the Site.

2. As-Is Sales & No Warranties

All equipment is sold “AS IS, WHERE IS” with all faults. Unless a listing explicitly states otherwise, no warranty — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — is provided with any purchase, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Vintage audio equipment is, by nature, old. Components degrade over time. Capacitors dry out. Contacts oxidize. Mechanical parts wear. A unit described as “working” means it was functional at the time of listing but we cannot guarantee it will remain so indefinitely. A unit described as “restored” means specific work has been performed as described in the listing, not that every component has been replaced.

You acknowledge that vintage equipment may require future maintenance, repair, or restoration and that this is inherent to the hobby. We strongly encourage buyers to inspect all equipment in person at the time of pickup.

3. Buyer Beware

It is the buyer’s sole responsibility to inspect equipment at the time of pickup. Once you take physical possession of an item, the sale is considered final. We encourage you to:

If an item materially differs from its listing description at the time of pickup, you may decline to complete the purchase. Contact us and we will process a full refund.

4. All Sales Are Final

There are no returns, refunds, or exchanges after pickup. By purchasing an item and taking possession, you accept the item in its current condition. This policy exists because vintage equipment is sensitive and we cannot verify what happens to a unit after it leaves the seller’s possession.

Exceptions may be considered at our sole discretion in cases of fraud or material misrepresentation. Contact us at the email below if you believe a listing was fraudulent.

5. Local Pickup Only

All items are local pickup only within the state of Montana. We do not ship equipment. Pickup location and logistics are coordinated between the buyer and seller after purchase. We are not responsible for any damage that occurs during transport after pickup.

6. Pricing & Payment

All prices are listed in US dollars. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. The listed price is the full price — we do not charge additional buyer fees. Sellers pay a platform commission which is deducted from their payout.

Prices are set by sellers and may change at any time without notice. A listing’s price is locked at the time of successful payment.

7. Listing Accuracy

We review all listings for quality and accuracy, but we do not independently verify every claim made by sellers. Descriptions of condition, functionality, provenance, modifications, and history are provided by the seller. Photos represent the actual item being sold unless otherwise noted.

We reserve the right to edit listings for clarity, remove listings that violate our policies, and suspend sellers who misrepresent their equipment.

8. Seller Vetting

All sellers on Montana HiFi are reviewed and approved before listing. However, seller approval is not a guarantee of the quality, condition, or authenticity of any individual item. Seller ratings and reviews reflect community feedback and are not endorsements by Montana HiFi.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silverface Holdings, LLC and its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or any purchase made through the Site, including but not limited to:

Our total liability for any claim arising from a transaction shall not exceed the purchase price of the specific item in question. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Vintage Equipment Safety

Vintage audio equipment was manufactured under standards that may differ from current safety regulations. Some equipment may contain components or materials (such as lead solder or asbestos insulation) that are no longer used in modern manufacturing. Older capacitors can fail and, in rare cases, pose a fire risk. It is your responsibility to ensure any equipment you purchase is safe to operate in your environment.

We recommend having vintage equipment inspected by a qualified technician, especially units that have not been recently serviced. Montana HiFi is not responsible for any injury, property damage, or loss resulting from the use of equipment purchased through the Site.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, and design — is the property of Silverface Holdings, LLC or its content suppliers and is protected by copyright and trademark law. Brand names and model numbers referenced in listings are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

12. User Accounts & Submissions

By submitting equipment for sale through the Site, you represent that you are the lawful owner of the equipment or are authorized to sell it. You grant us a non-exclusive license to use photos and descriptions you provide for the purpose of creating and promoting listings. Stolen property will be reported to law enforcement.

13. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or transactions on the Site shall be governed by the laws of the State of Montana. You agree to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration in Cascade County, Montana, rather than in court. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class arbitration against us.

14. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
